Home is Where the Heart Is!

To HES Students,

As your principal, I would like for you to know WHY I am your principal. Here's the short version...

Hugoton Elementary quickly felt like home to me as a first grader! We moved to Hugoton from Spearman, Texas. I was placed is Ms. Murphy's class and she told me something interesting, unique or funny about each of my new classmates as she introduced them. Then, she sat on a high stool to read a story to us and finally, she pulled out an overhead projector to work on math. That was it! I was hooked! Within two short hours (probably more like 10 minutes), I knew that I was going to be a teacher and I never considered any other career fields. Throughout the rest of my school years and up until graduation, I watched my teachers and began to make my plan. It all began on my first day of school at HES!

My mom and dad have always been supportive of the Hugoton Schools and our community. They always encouraged me to take advantage of opportunities that would help me grow as a person as well as a future teacher. I have been blessed! I have learned just as much as a teacher and now principal as I did as a student at Hugoton Elementary. My goals for every student at Hugoton Elementary are the same as those that my parents had for me: To learn to take advantage of opportunities, to never stop learning, and to set goals that will lead to successful years while attending HES!

I enjoy getting to know the students. In order for that to happen, it would be great for them to know more about me. So....
