This Week…. Nov 23th - Nov 29nd
What an exciting week ahead, an entire week for our students and staff to recharge! I hope this break gives each of you the chance to slow down, enjoy time with loved ones, and create memories filled with laughter and rest.
Thanksgiving Break is also a perfect moment to pause and reflect on the many good things happening in our lives. Whether you spend time serving others, lending support to someone who needs it, or simply sharing kindness in small ways, these gestures help strengthen the sense of community we’re so proud of here in Hugoton.
We’re grateful for each of you and for the incredible support that surrounds our schools. Let’s return after the holiday refreshed, encouraged, and ready for the three important weeks leading up to Winter Break.
Before we head out, don’t forget, our Boys and Girls Jamboree games are coming up on Tuesday, November 25th. Jump in your vehicles and cheer on our Eagles!
Wishing everyone a peaceful, joyful, and well deserved Thanksgiving Break!
Next Week… Nov 30th - Dec 6th
Once we get back from our break we’re starting strong with a full week of activities, events, and student opportunities across Hugoton High.
Monday marks our first day back and everyone will get back into the swing of things and make sure we are going over those expectations.
On Tuesday, the HOSA Kansas Virtual Conference, a StuCo seminar meeting, Scholars Bowl in Cimarron, and a home JV/V wrestling dual vs. Liberal.
Wednesday includes FCA, the FFA Parliamentary Procedure and Leadership contests in Garden City, and NHS Eagle Pals, which we have intentionally moved to Wednesdays. Since Wednesdays rarely have activities, this shift ensures our 3rd and 4th graders can see their Eagle Pals consistently each month. The Sports Boosters meeting closes out the evening.
On Thursday and Friday, our Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball teams travel to Hays for the varsity tournament. Thursday also features the E-Sports State Competition in Pratt and a HOSA seminar meeting. Friday includes Art Club, DECA Market Day, and Girls Varsity Wrestling in Pratt.
We finish the week on Saturday with the Band/Choir SWKEA Honor Clinic in Dodge City, Boys Varsity Wrestling in Pratt, and JV Wrestling in Goodland.
It’s a busy and exciting week for our Eagles, good luck to all participants, and thank you to everyone supporting our students and programs!
Looking Ahead…
Three weeks until the end of this semester! Our finals are on Wednesday, December 17th for all odd numbered hours/classes and Thursday, December 18th for all even numbered hours/classes. Friday, December 19th is a half day and we will have shortened hours so students can see all our wonderful teachers one last time before Christmas break!
Quote for the Week!
“Great work is achieved not by strength alone, but by consistently doing the small things that build the foundation of our journey. It’s our perseverance, our willingness to keep moving forward, no matter the pace, that leads us to accomplish truly great things.”
