This Week…. Jan 4th - Jan 10th
Home Basketball Games
Our teams are working hard and playing aggressively, giving us exciting games to watch as they lift each other up through every challenge! We encourage students to create a positive, high-energy game day atmosphere by cheering in ways that support our players and show school pride. Clap, stomp, chant, and stand together to celebrate effort and build energy, while keeping cheers respectful and fun. During free throws, stay loud as the opponent approaches the line, then quiet for the shot to add respectful pressure. Let’s make every game an exciting experience through energy, encouragement, and great sportsmanship!
Scholars Bowl
We will be hosting a Scholars Bowl tournament. Teams will check in at the front office and rooms will be set up in the Math and English hallways. Anyone that wants to observe is free to follow our team from room to room. Don’t feel bad if you do not know any of the answers because these students are intelligent and quick witted. It is a 7 round tournament with 2 pools. The top 2 teams from each pool will compete in 2 more finals rounds to decide the tournament winners. Mr. Burrow’s is a Scholars Bowl master himself and has created and nourished this program. Every year they continue to improve and lead successful seasons!
Homecoming
We will be having a pep rally on Friday at 2:40 pm in the West Gym and the King will be announced then. Then after the Boys Varsity Basketball game we will announce the queen. We will also have spirit week and a dance on Saturday!

Next Week… Jan 18th - Jan 24th
We will have a four-day week as we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday. This is a meaningful opportunity to reflect on Dr. King’s leadership and the values he lived out during times of great turmoil. He unified people and pushed for peace, justice, and kindness by fully committing to nonviolence and the practice of turning the other cheek during protests. Dr. King showed the world that responding with integrity, courage, and compassion can be more powerful than anger or division, reminding us that good actions and good people have just as much, if not more, impact than negative ones. As we move through this shortened week, may we honor his legacy by choosing respect, empathy, and unity in how we treat one another.
Looking Ahead…
We will be closing in on the halfway point for basketball, wrestling, powerlifting, and scholars bowl. They are all showing a lot of potential and we are proud to have them represent our school and community!
Quote for the Week!
"What the new year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the new year."
