Mr. Kent’s Updates
This week brings a strong focus on instruction, consistency, and forward momentum across the building. As we continue working through this stretch of the semester, our emphasis remains on high-quality teaching, purposeful planning, and maintaining clear expectations for students.
There will be a number of moving pieces throughout the week, including student activities and meetings, so flexibility and proactive communication will be key. Thank you for continuing to plan ahead, keep students informed, and maintain instructional pacing even with adjustments to schedules.
We are also continuing conversations around student engagement, attendance, and academic progress. The work you are doing in your classrooms, monitoring learning, providing feedback, and reinforcing expectations, plays a critical role in that effort. Small, consistent actions make a big difference.

This Week…. Feb 15th - Feb 21st
We have an exciting week ahead as boys wrestling regionals kick off and we celebrate Senior Night during our home basketball games against Colby! These events highlight the hard work, dedication, and pride of our student athletes, and there’s no better time to show our school spirit. Let’s pack the stands, cheer loud, and support our seniors as they take the mat and the court.
HOSA Kansas Virtual Health Career Day
The 2026 Virtual Health Care Career Day, scheduled for February 18, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., is a statewide virtual event designed to expose students to a wide range of health care careers. The event is presented by the Kansas Hospital Association, Kansas Board of Regents, and the Kansas Department of Education.
Throughout the morning, students will hear directly from health care professionals representing multiple fields, including pediatrics, laboratory services, advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners and physician assistants), dietary services, radiology and imaging, social services, EMT/paramedicine, and orthopedics and sports medicine. Each session highlights career responsibilities, educational pathways, and workforce demand.
The event concludes with guidance on next steps, including information about relevant coursework, career shadowing opportunities, and scholarships available to students interested in pursuing health care careers.
This virtual experience connects students with real-world professionals, provides insight into salary and employment projections, and helps build awareness of the diverse opportunities available within the health care field.
Senior Elementary Pep Rally
This pep rally has been moved to Wednesday so that every senior participating in fall sports can attend. I know it will be a wonderful time and the energy will be buzzing at the elementary.

There’s a lot to be proud of, and we’re looking forward to a great week filled with student achievement and school spirit!
Looking Ahead…
This semester is flying by and March is coming fast. Basketball sub state will be kicking off and the end of the first 9 weeks of this semester is coming up!
Quote for the Week!
“Resilience is very different from being numb. Resilience means you experience, you feel, you fail, you hurt. You fall. But, you keep going.”
