MAPS
We start up MAPS testing and we will hit the ground running with our math department kicking it off on Tuesday. Make sure you remind students to do their best and to get plenty of sleep the night before and hopefully they will listen.
GWAC League Art Competition
Hugoton middle and high school art students are excited to travel to Ulysses on Wednesday, April 22nd for the GWAC Art Competition. Students will depart at 9:20 a.m., participate in the competition and awards ceremony, and return to Hugoton around 2:00 p.m. They should bring $12–$15 for lunch. Parent volunteers are warmly welcomed to join and support our students during this exciting and competitive event.
FFA
Our FFA Officers chose to donate funds they raised to support families affected by the recent wildfires, and that decision says a great deal about the character of our students.
This act of generosity goes far beyond a simple donation. It reflects compassion, leadership, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of others. In a time when many families are facing loss and uncertainty, our students are stepping up to show that they care and are willing to take action.
Moments like this highlight the true purpose of programs like the National FFA Organization. Developing not only skills and knowledge, but also strong, service minded individuals who understand the importance of giving back. By choosing to help others, our students are learning what it means to be active, responsible members of society.
We are incredibly proud of their leadership and their willingness to think beyond themselves. Their actions serve as a powerful reminder that even small acts of kindness can have a meaningful impact, and they set a great example for our entire community.
Banquets
Banquets are a valued tradition in our school community, bringing students, staff, and families together to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and achievements of our programs. They are a special opportunity to recognize student success, strengthen connections, and honor the commitment of our coaches, sponsors, and teachers who support students every step of the way.
As we move into the second week of celebrations, we’re excited to continue this tradition with a new group of students and another program to recognize. Each banquet highlights the teamwork, growth, and pride that make our school and community so special. We look forward to another great evening of celebration and appreciation! This week we will have HOSA and DECA banquets.
Looking Ahead…
Sports Physical Clinics
We’re excited to share our upcoming Sports Physical Clinics for the 2026–2027 school year! This is a fantastic opportunity for our students and families to get ahead, stay prepared, and support our athletic programs all at the same time.
We strongly encourage everyone to take advantage of this early opportunity. Students can complete their required physicals in a convenient setting, at a discounted price, and avoid the last minute rush before the season begins. Even better, half of the cost of each physical will be donated right back to our athletic department, directly supporting our student-athletes and programs.
This is truly a win-win for our students, families, and school community. We would love your help in spreading the word and encouraging participation so we can make this event a great success!
Thank you for your continued support of our students and activities. We’re looking forward to an amazing year ahead!
Dance Recital
We are incredibly excited to invite you to Hugoton High School’s very first Dance Recital, a milestone moment for our school and community!
Under the direction of Mrs. Grubb, our students have worked hard all year to learn, grow, and express themselves through dance. This recital is a celebration of their dedication, creativity, and courage to try something new. It’s more than just a performance. It’s the beginning of something special at Hugoton High School.
We would love to see our community come out and support these students as they take the stage for this historic first event. Your encouragement will help this program continue to grow and thrive, opening the door for even more opportunities for our students in the future.
Come be part of the start of something exciting. Let’s pack the house and show our dancers how proud we are!
Quote for the Week!
"Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible."
