In response to the new personal electronic device requirements passed by the Kansas Legislature in 2026, USD 210 has adopted an updated Personal Electronic Device Policy for students. The new policy creates one consistent district-wide expectation for personal electronic devices while allowing each school to establish storage procedures appropriate for its students.
Our goal is simple: create a safe, focused, and distraction-free learning environment where students can make the most of their school day.
Beginning this school year, personal electronic communication devices—including cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, earbuds, and wireless headphones—should be turned off or silenced and stored according to each building's procedures throughout the school day.
We also know families need to stay connected. Parents may contact their child's school office at any time during the school day, and messages will be delivered promptly. Parents of middle and high school students may also communicate with their child through school email.
We appreciate the partnership of our students, families, and staff as we work together to protect instructional time, reduce distractions, and help our students be successful.
Parents or students with questions about the new policy or building-specific procedures are encouraged to contact their building principal or Mr. Howie at the USD 210 District Office.
