Mr. Kent’s Updates
We made it and I don’t know about you but this first full week felt like a month! Thank you for continuing to show patience, flexibility, and consistency as we help our students settle into the school year.
We will continue maintaining high expectations, reinforcing positive routines, and building meaningful relationships with our students. Simple actions, such as offering a warm welcome, providing encouragement, and showing consistent support, can make a lasting difference in a student’s life.

This Week…. Aug 30th - 5th
Grades
Families should begin seeing more assignments and grades posted as students settle into their classes. We encourage parents and guardians to check their student’s progress regularly and contact the appropriate teacher with any questions.
Lunch
Thanks to Holly Hemann, we now have four microwaves available for students who bring their lunches. Our lunch routine continues to run smoothly, with students typically seated and eating within about 10 minutes. This gives them plenty of time to enjoy their meals, visit with friends, and recharge before returning to class.
School Communication System
Many of you who have recently tried to call may be aware that we are transitioning to a new phone system. We have made progress, including restoring access to voicemail and resolving several issues, but we are still working to get the system fully operational. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition.
We are also hopeful that installation of our new intercom system will begin next week and be completed by the end of the week, depending on the arrival of the necessary parts. Although it may take some time for everything to function perfectly, we are encouraged by the progress being made.
HVAC Update
Our HVAC technician continues working to improve the building’s heating and cooling system. We recently learned that only one of the system’s three compressors has been operating. The technician is focusing on getting the additional compressors running, which we hope will improve temperatures throughout the building. We appreciate everyone’s patience and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
Roof Repairs
A roofer is scheduled to visit on Wednesday to locate and repair areas of the roof that may be causing leaks. Roof leaks can be difficult to pinpoint and even a very small opening can cause significant problems but we are hopeful that the repairs will address most, if not all, of the affected areas.
Upcoming Reminder
Tuesday, September 8, is the final day for students to withdraw from an SCCC course and receive a full refund.
Thank you to our families and community for your continued support. We are excited to see our classrooms and activities getting into full swing and look forward to another great week at HHS!
Next week Sept 6th - Sept 12th
We have a four day week and I hope everyone enjoys Labor Day and their day off on Monday! We also have multiple activities going on and we should be in full swing in our classrooms and in our activities.
Quote for the Week!
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
