Mr. Kent’s Updates

Over the past several weeks, our teachers and students have worked hard to establish clear expectations, build positive relationships, and create consistent classroom routines. With that strong foundation now in place, it is time to bring even more creativity, excitement, and inspiration into our classrooms! Our teachers are finding meaningful ways to spark curiosity, encourage student participation, and connect learning to the world beyond the classroom. We are excited to see our students explore new ideas, discover their strengths, and enjoy memorable learning experiences throughout the year. The expectations are in place, now it is time to inspire!

This Week…. Sept 13th - 19th

School Picture, Sep 15th

School pictures will begin shortly after morning announcements. Students will be called to the picture area by grade level and last name throughout the morning. A final announcement will be made for anyone who has not yet had their picture taken.

Students attending classes at SCCC should report directly to the picture area after signing in at HHS and before going to class.

Please encourage your students to dress their best for picture day while continuing to follow all HHS dress code policies. We look forward to seeing everyone’s smiles!

VU Scholarships, Sept 16th

Parents, family members, and friends are invited to join us as we celebrate our seniors and scholarship recipients on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. in the HHS West Gymnasium. Guests should enter through the back doors and will be given priority in selecting their seats.

Cheerleaders will be dismissed at 2:20 p.m. All other students should report to their eighth-hour classes before walking with their class to the West Gym. Please make sure you take attendance first before heading to the gym. Students in grades 9–11 will sit in the upper west bleachers and should fill the rows from the front toward the back, leaving the remaining seating available for guests. Seniors will sit in the designated chairs on the gym floor.

Why Apply Day, Sept 18th

We want our entire school and community to encourage seniors to explore their opportunities after graduation and apply to college or other postsecondary programs. Teachers, please use an AI tool of your choice to design a creative flyer that gives seniors a reason to take that next step. Feature your alma mater, include an inspiring quote, share a personal message, or create something completely original! Please display your flyer outside your classroom where students can see it and wear your favorite college T-shirt to help generate excitement.

We also invite parents, local businesses, alumni, and community members to join us! Display a college pennant, wear apparel from your favorite school, share your college or career-training experience, or offer an encouraging message to our seniors. Let’s come together to show them how many people believe in their future!

Apply Kansas Day will be for all seniors on October 6th. The sessions will be from 8:15 am to 11:15 am and 11:15 am to 3:15 pm. Mrs. Settlemyer will send out more information when it gets closer.

Next week Sept 20th - 26th

This is going to be a crazy week because it is Homecoming Week! We also see you at the Pole on Sept 23rd.

See you

Quote for the Week!

"We don't even know how strong we are until we are forced to bring that hidden strength forward."
