Mr. Kent’s Updates

We have taken time to reteach expectations, and our next step is to reinforce them consistently. We know consistency can be difficult, especially during busy or challenging days, but those are often the moments when students need dependable guidance the most. Our staff will continue recognizing students who make positive choices, calmly redirecting them when expectations are not met, and following through when correction is needed. We also appreciate the support of our families and community as we work together to reinforce responsibility, respect, and perseverance. None of us will handle every situation perfectly, but what matters is recognizing when we fall short, resetting, and getting back on track. Through steady and consistent follow-through, we can help students develop strong habits while creating a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment for everyone.

This Week…

Students of the week for Sept 28th - Oct 2nd

Junior Martinez – Junior showed outstanding school spirit by enthusiastically cheering and helping lead the crowd during the volleyball game. After football practice, he and a group of teammates took the time to support another HHS team. Junior remained respectful while bringing great energy and Eagle pride to the event.

Eduardo Tinoco – Eduardo was seen picking up trash when he did not know anyone was watching. Although it may seem like a small act, it speaks volumes about his character. Doing the right thing without seeking recognition demonstrates genuine responsibility, pride, and respect for our school.

Levi Foreman – Levi consistently conducts himself as a gentleman and is always willing to help others throughout the day. He is a dependable student whose kindness, respect, and positive attitude make him a wonderful person and an important part of HHS.

Bently Esaray – Bently approaches everything he does with professionalism, determination, and a strong work ethic. He is dependable, thoughtful, and consistently gives his best effort. Bently usually has a smile on his face, unless he is wearing his serious expression while deeply focused on the task in front of him!

Apple Kansas Day

We are excited to participate in Apply Kansas, a statewide initiative designed to help seniors prepare for life after graduation. Throughout the day, students will receive guidance and dedicated time to explore postsecondary opportunities, complete important college and financial-aid steps, strengthen their resumes, and practice skills that will help them in future interviews. This experience gives every senior meaningful support as they consider their next steps, whether those plans include college, technical education, the military, or entering the workforce.

HOSA Fundraiser

The HOSA fundraiser is coming to a close. All Cookie Dough Sales sheets and money is due to Miss Wight by the end of the day on Oct. 7th. Hopefully you purchased something sweet to eat during this cold cold winter!

Senior Pep Rally

The Senior Pep Rally will be held at the elementary school next Friday, October 9, beginning at 2:50 p.m. Senior athletes should be dismissed at 2:30 p.m. so they have time to travel to the elementary school, and they may drive themselves. Band, Dance, and Cheer students will be dismissed at 2:15 p.m. Coaches and sponsors, I am excited to hear your speeches!

Coming up…

No Child Left Inside day is on October 14th! We will have food, games, activities, and it should be a fun time for all. It is a great time for students to stretch their legs and for all our staff to enjoy being outside together! Coach O, Mrs. Wight, and our HOSA members are working on all the details and they will be coming soon

Parent Teacher conferences are coming up. We will have conferences from 4 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday Oct 20th and from 8 am to 8 pm on Thursday October 22nd.

Quote for the Week!
