Mr. Kent’s Updates

Parent-teacher conferences are an opportunity to celebrate your student’s strengths, discuss their progress, and work together on the next steps for success. Your perspective matters, and we encourage you to share what you are noticing at home, what your student says about school, and any questions or concerns you may have.

Before conferences, take a few minutes to talk with your student. Ask what is going well, where they are struggling, and what support would help. During your conversations with teachers, look beyond grades and ask about effort, participation, growth, and examples of classroom work. Stay connected with your student’s seminar teacher so they can help coordinate support across classes.

Before leaving, work with teachers to identify one manageable goal and a clear way to support it at home. That might include establishing a homework routine, checking assignments together, encouraging regular attendance, or helping your student ask for assistance. Agree on when and how you will check progress.

Most importantly, let your student know that you and their teachers are working together and believe in their ability to grow. Recognizing their effort, celebrating progress, and following through on a shared plan can make a meaningful difference!

This Week…

School Spirit Spotlight

Miguel Don Juan – Miguel brings enthusiasm and Eagle pride! His energetic cheering and positive encouragement show how much he enjoys supporting our school. Just as impressive, he remains polite and courteous in his interactions with others. Thank you, Miguel, for bringing school spirit and kindness together!

Students of the Week!

Ivan Tinoco – Ivan walks into class with a positive attitude that lifts those around him. He also shows kindness by sitting beside a classmate and offering helpful reminders and encouragement. His willingness to support others helps make the classroom a welcoming place to learn.

Dayana Najar – Dayana stands out for her kindness, courtesy, and strong work ethic. She approaches learning with determination and consistently puts in the effort to succeed. Her respectful attitude and dedication set a wonderful example for those around her.

Nika Abuladze – Nika demonstrated thoughtfulness and initiative by picking up textbooks from classroom tables and neatly stacking them on the shelves without being asked. Taking the time to care for a shared space is a simple act that makes a difference. Thank you, Nika, for seeing a need and stepping up to help!

Parent Teacher Conference

Parent-teacher conferences are Tuesday, October 20, from 4–8 p.m. and Thursday, October 22, from 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Please schedule a time with your student’s seminar teacher and plan for your student to participate.

Together, we will review your student’s Individual Plan of Study (IPS), celebrate their strengths, discuss progress, and explore goals for the future. Come ready to share what you are noticing at home and any questions you or your student may have.

Our goal is for every family to leave with a shared understanding of their student’s progress and a practical next step we can take together. We look forward to connecting with you!

Coming up…

There is plenty to look forward to next week! Scholars Bowl is kicking off, giving students an opportunity to put their knowledge, teamwork, and quick thinking into action. Our 10th graders will participate in Reality U, where they will explore real-world financial decisions and see how choices can shape their future. Seniors and families need to submit senior baby pictures by Friday, Oct 30th! We look forward to celebrating how far our seniors have come as they prepare for their next chapter.

Quote for the Week!

“Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass. It’s about learning how to dance in the rain.”
