Mrs. Burrows 7th grade Social Studies classes have been learning about Native Americans, European settlers, along with the trails they used to reach the western frontier. Today the classes had to put that knowledge to use and work together to solve problems in an Escape Room.
Ms. Hayes UnPlugged students worked on building team -work skills today. They made a classroom obstacle course, listened to their partner and block out the other distractions in order to get through the course.

The following students participated in the HMS Spelling Bee on January 29th. The HMS Champion is Tobias Grubbs. All students pictured will move on to the county spelling bee on February 12th at 1:00 at the Hugoton Elementary School.

HMS students pictured were selected as Kansas Scholastic Art winners. There artwork are will be on display at the Stauth Memorial Museum in Montezuma KS. starting the last week of Jan. through Feb. 20th.
Central Office is off to a great start this year with a beautiful tree decorated by Mrs. Denton's class. Thank you for brightening up our office.
Mrs. Nordyke's Read 180 students are working on plans for a fundraiser for koala bears which were displaced because of the fires in Australia.
Due to more projected ice overnight, Hugoton Public Schools will have a 2 hour late start tomorrow, January 17. School will start at 10:10.

It has been brought to our attention, that local businesses have received phone calls asking for donations to the school. They are offering advertisements on shirts and at games. THIS IS A SCAM! School teams and groups will NOT solicit ads or donations via the phone. #WeR210
One of the many activities HMS have going on this week is "Strike A Pose". Today is also "Christmas Sock" day and tomorrow is "Ugly Sweater/Sweatshirt" day. A big shoutout to Mrs. Leeper who has worked hard to make this week a fun experience for our students.
HMS Winter Snowball Dance took place on Thursday, December 12th. Students had a great time dancing, visiting and eating snacks. Thank you to STUCO for sponsoring all HMS dances.
With snow overnight, roads are a little slick. Allow extra time as you come to school today. Buses may run a little behind as they allow more time for destinations.
School will start at NORMAL TIME.
